Friederike Thonke

Friederike Thonke was our master carpenter who trained the whole team in its first project Modskool and was also a part of the Missing Basti workshop organised by CEPT University. She is an urban planner and community architect currently working as advisor for a sustainable urban development project with GIZ in India. Her practice focuses on integrated urban planning and, in specific, on aspects of affordable housing, land tenure and financing. She has worked in several countries in South Asia, South-East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa at the level of local NGOs to international organisations.
